We recommend ear piercing occur after 3 months of age. Waiting until children are 3 months old ensures that they have had their first set of vaccines and allows the ear to grow big enough to allow for accurate placing of the earirng. We want to make sure that this elective procedure carries as little risk to your child as possible. 

We use Medisystem Ear Professional Ear Piercing, using sterile, medical grade earrings. Numbing cream is applied prior to the procedure. We will mark your baby's ears, then use an ear-piercing "gun". We recommend cleaning the site with alcohol twice a day and keeping the earrings in for at least 6 weeks. If you remove the earrings at 6 weeks, replace them immediately to prevent the holes from closing up. Please notify us if there is any pain, redness, discharge, or swelling at the piercing sites.
